A land purchase in Uganda can turn into years of dispute if title is not properly verified before money changes hands. Here is what to check first.
Title Verification Comes First
Before any land sale agreement is signed, a proper title search should confirm who actually owns the land, whether there are any competing claims or encumbrances registered against it, and whether the seller has the legal authority to transfer it.
What Our Conveyancing Team Checks
Beyond the title itself, we verify boundaries, check for outstanding mortgages or caveats, and confirm that any required consents, such as spousal or family land consents, have been properly obtained. Catching a problem before signing is far less costly than resolving it in court afterward.
